Legend strives to operate ethically, in a socially responsible manner and demonstrates this through its corporate governance, diversity and environmental initiatives. The utmost effort is made to ensure all State and Federal Government organisations, indigenous communities, social and environmental groups, and local communities are integrally involved in the planning and notifications of the Legend phosphate project.
Understanding our environmental impact is essential to Legend's day-to-day business. We have a highly experienced environmental team who work consistently to enhance the environmental consideration of our business and support all State and Federal Government environmental initiatives and requirements. This includes reducing emissions, water and power usage and waste management programs.
We are committed to the inclusion of the indigenous communities within all operational and planning elements of the project and have developed a strong working relationship with the historical land-owners native to the Legend resource deposits in North West Queensland. Landmark Native Title agreements have been signed with Kalkadoon Aboriginal Community and the Indjilandji-Dhihanu People in regards to the Paradise and D-Tree deposits. A close business relationship has been developed with both of these traditional owner groups.

Legend intends to live up to its duty to the Mt Isa region and positively impact the lives of the local community. Legend aims to facilitate many social and economic benefits, including up to 4000 jobs, for the Mt Isa region once potential operations commence in hope of giving something back to the region that is offering so much to them.
To underline this commitment Legend currently sponsors the Mt Isa AFL club and has donated A$100,000 towards the development of the team and Mt Isa Oval, now known as the ‘Legend Oval'. The funding has opened up the opportunity to develop the Mt Isa AFL competition, start junior leagues and create youth training programs.

Legend, since 2008, has also undertaken sponsorship of the North Queensland Helicopter Rescue Service (NQ Rescue). NQ Rescue is a non profit charity established in Mount Isa in early 2007. The charter of the organisation is to provide a full time dedicated community rescue helicopter service for the people of North West Queensland.
Legend has made donations totalling $55,000 which have enabled NQ Rescue to continue to bring a flying hospital to motor vehicle accidents, work place incidents, those sick or injured in remote areas and in need of airlifting to hospital.
